Creativity is not the sole preserve of the artist or musician. If you want improve your ability to be more creative in generating new ideas or seeking solutions then bear the following three points in mind:
1. Challenge assumptions.
We all have beliefs that prevent us from being more creative. If we note our assumptions we bring them into our conscious awareness and they can be challenged. For example if we assumed that an office party should be held in an office, then creative team building days out of the office would not take place.
2. Change perspective.
Other people’s thoughts could clue you in to some of the unnecessary things we do, both at home and in the office. See everything from several perspectives. Take for example targets, what if employees could go home when they reached their targets, would they be home earlier? Of course they would.
3. Let ideas run wild.
Try not to stifle your creativity. Just relax, let ideas come, and know that all ideas are good ideas.
