Revolution 2020 #Book Review

RVL2020‘Once upon a time, in small-town India, there lived two intelligent boys.
One wanted to use his intelligence to make money.

One wanted to use his intelligence to create a revolution.

The problem was, they both loved the same girl.’

A story about childhood friends Gopal, Raghav and Aarti who struggle to find success and love in Varanasi. However, it isn’t easy to achieve this in an unfair society that rewards the corrupt. As Gopal gives in to the system, and Raghav fights it, who will win?

The tagline of the book ‘Love. Corruption. Ambition‘ refers to its actual theme. This is a love story, actually a triangular one (Gopal and Raghav, two boy character love the same girl Aarti). The book focus the Corruption mainly in educational sector. The three character of the book have strong ambitions, and their all actions to get that ambition develops a complete story.

Gopal, the son of a retired teacher, ridden with debt and litigation, was destined to fall head first and hard in love with the daughter of the District Magistrate from the inopportune day he decided to steal a slab of the chocolate cake she had brought for lunch. The friendship that started in the fifth standard through the hapless incident gradually took its own meandering course over the Ganga over innumerable boat rides and unspoken ballads of love, one sided of course.

Gopal, a weak student who tries his best to get into the top engineering colleges and fails repeatedly, Aarti a girl (like any other who is always confused about what she wants in life) and Raghav is exceptionally intelligent . The story revolves around how Gopal copes with his studies, high expectations of his ailing father and also trying, albeit unsuccessfully, to woo Aarti. Meanwhile Raghav and Aarti fall in love when Gopal was not in the city. The three were the best of friends since school but “Love, Corruption and Ambition” combine together to bring differences between them. In the story Raghav starts REVOLUTION with his journalism beside he is actually an engineer. ‘REVOLUTION 2020’ is his newspaper’s name.

As to say good points, The book is very simple in language. The whole story is capable to get the point which the writer wanted to present. The clear picture of current scenario of the society is shown with the story so it is relevant in todays time. The story shows the ambitious peoples and there behavior to fulfill the ambition; they can do anything, they can choose any way; and it starts Corruption.

In the other hand, the storyline is a typical Bollywood movie. You can predict what gonna happen next? and most of the times its correct. Readers may not feel fully entertained with the story. There is no point of inspiration as well, it just tries to highlight the existing corruption in India’s current education system and its commercialization.

This novel when compared to the earlier works of the author is disappointing. People expect something more brilliant from the writer of ‘5-point Someone’.

Chetan should start writing Bollywood scripts, that will be better to film industry & readers won’t be disappointed.

:p
