  • Day 5: The Final Day to Kathmandu

We were woken at the usual 6 AM then washed our face. We sipped our tea and packed up our bags. we ate our breakfast at the hotel room . We had delicious toasted Bread with cheese and Fruit Jam and more tea.

Bus to Kathmandu was ready. Every seats were already booked; we could manage only 2 ticket to Shashi and Rajesh. Three of us decided to stay at the top. Amazingly we left the hotel on time, at 7:30 AM. There were more than 60 peoples in the bus. The drive through the Nepal countryside is full of excitement and adventurous. The curvy road was bending like the river.

Unfortunately, after nearly 1 hr. of drive, a mechanical problem occurred in the bus because the road was not so good. The Bus staff called the mechanics to solve the problem and we had to wait for more than two hours. The beautiful nature was clear around. But it was difficult to pass the time on the road, so Bikash and I went for some distance ahead for just the photo session… because we had nothing to do except roaming around…

At around 11 AM the Bus was ready, our journey began again. We had our lunch at around 1 PM. The road was still sticky & we were still at the top. Meanwhile the heavy rainfall troubled us. After few minutes the bus staff managed a tent & we were safe with that rain. After nearly 30 minutes of rain, the environment became clear and beautiful which made our journey more wonderful. We reached Kathmandu at 7:00 PM passing the beautiful places Kakani, then Tapoban. We had exciting & adventurous experience in those 5 days, Everyone were happy.

    Extremely Happy!!!

  • Day 4 – Mon June 12, 2007: near to the destination Gosainkunda (4381m)

We all woke up in a usual time of 6:30, and we packed up and went inside for breakfast. Our main destination (Gosainkunda) was nearly 3 to 4 hrs far. We were ready for the last adventure. Our trail was now to the up. The trek up to the Lauri Binayak(4610 m) was harder. Rabin, Bikash and me took the lead, with Shashi and Rajesh close behind. The trail was like the graveled road, hard to cross, we had great time crossing.

The trail was covered with poisonous grass and we were having little difficulties in breathing, taking rest in such place was much harmful so we continued our walk. We had some milky chocolates and cateberies to boost the energy. After 3 hrs. Of continuous walk we finally reached Lauri Binayak (4610 m). We all were safe with that poisonous grass. We took rest for some moments and begin very easy trail to little down.

We got to the Holy Gosainkunda Lake at around 11:00 AM, and dropped our bags in front of a hotel and be fresh. We had tea and then went to take holy bath in the lake. We worship in the small temple of God Shiva near the lake. Then we took bath in the cool water and traveled around the lake.

After that we had our usual lunch, in the round table outside the hotel. The next trail was to down, down and down… Steeply down towards Dhunche (Capital of Rasuwa). We had reached the summit and seen the amazing down views, mountains were not visible clearly. We started our down trip at around 2:30 PM. Dhunche was nearly 5 hrs far.

Me, Rabin and Bikash were leading and Shashi and Rejesh were far behind us, we have planed not to wait for them in the way. Altitude was decreasing …and decreasing. After 1.5 hrs we reached Sing Gompa (3350 m) (Locally called ChandanBari) and stopped for some rest. We pulled out the pack of Chocolates.
We enjoyed trek relaxing inside the sunny, warm and beautiful forest (Lang Tang National Park). We crossed different small villages like Sing Gompa (3350 m), Dhimsa (3007 m) etc. Those villages were surrounded with the thick forest. We were afraid of the wild animals in the national park. We saw a beautiful deer on the way but unable to capture it with our camera.

The Down trail was over at around 6:45 PM and Dhunche was only half an hour far. We crossed a small river (Trishuli) and went through the straight and easy way. After sometime we reached the mineral water factory. After that, the path was towards the Small and Beautiful district Capital – Dhunche. We reached there at 7:00 PM but our two friends were still back. We searched and booked a beautiful lodge there and pulled off our Bags and Jacket, took rest for some time and be fresh.

Two friends were still not in the contact, they may still back so Me and Rabin went to look for them. At 7:45 PM they reached Dhunche, we guided them to the lodge. We all were very happy for the successful completion of the trek. Next day we will be going to Kathmandu by Bus. At around 9:00 PM we had our usual dinner watching TV.

After lunch we went to the room had some chit-chat. By 10:30 the room lights were turned off.

  • Day 3 – Mon June 11, 2007: Magin Goth [3285m] – Phedi [3430m]

The 6:30 tea wake-up call had started to feel normal. We washed our faces, had tea and be ready for the new adventure. We were on the trail before 7:00 AM again. Mist filled the morning air; it was not possible to see the top of the hills. Our trail was still inside the forest. The mist kept us cool while we hiked along the comparatively good trail.

The sun peeked out later in the morning, heating things up. At around 10:00 AM we reached Thare Pati (3500m). We took some rest there and had some biscuits & Tea and again be ready for the new experience. We wandered through a variety of rhododendron trees and flowers. The environment was so cool for walk. At around 1:00 PM we reached our lunch spot, place called Ghopte (3500m). We hung the jackets to make it dry because it was wet with sweats. The sun was not seen clearly but the environment was too hot. We ordered the tea first, then lunch. We were fresh with the sip of tea. Shashi played Tungna …Bhera ko oon jasto (The song from the same place) … for the little while. Rabin and I slept for sometime in the bench outside of the lodge. After 1 hrs we had Daal, Rice & Potato (as always…) curry and tomato pickle. Immediately after lunch we packed up and began the trip again.

The trail led us Up and Down after lunch. We were kind of tired and were glad that the trail was pretty good; somewhere the trail was covered with very hard and sleepy snow. At one point it turned fairly woodsy and steep.

Beautiful view of small waterfalls helped us to come out the tiredness. At around 7 PM we reached Phedi (3500m), our that day’s destination. That place was associated with a bad event occurred in 1992 July 31st. Thai Airways Airbus A 310 Airplane was crashed on that day and 133 peoples were killed.

The darkness was covering the earth slowly. The beautiful sound of waterfall was making the environment more wonderful.

We became fresh and had the hot tea and wait for the dinner until it is ready.

Dinner was the usual Daal, Rice & Potatoes. After the dinner, we spent some time chatting and playing Tungna. Altitude was not affecting any one of us but it was too cold outside, we were in the room with wooden heater.

Soon after, we went to the bed. Bikash and I were in a room. Neither of us slept well before 11:00 pm, that is because of either with excitement or the cool environment, we were not certain.

  • Day 2 – Sun June 10, 2007: Chasapani [2194m] – Magin Goth [3285m]

We were woken up by 6 AM. We sipped our tea and washed our faces. The breakfast was already ready. We had delicious biscuits and more tea, and left the hotel at around 7:15 AM. It was raining heavily so the trail to follow became sleepy and the environment was too cold. We went down, down, down, first in the wide as if it was road for vehicles just for the few steps, later on a narrow winding trail. At the same time we were steadily losing altitude.

After 1 hr. we crossed a few easy streams then the down trail was over. The trail is now to the upper hill and was little difficult. At around 11 AM we reached Chipling but the trail was still long to cross.

We had junk foods on the way but we were still too hungry. A few places we had scrambled a bit, and find our own way across to stay and have lunch. At around 1 PM we reached the hotel and requested to prepare lunch. We all wash off some of the sweat and spent our time with a so called cat ;).

After sometime we had carbohydrate-filled delicious lunch. The meal consisted of Rice, Daal and potatoes. Soon, it was the time to pack up; finally we left the hotel, and went through another sloppy road. We crossed the small village and begin the much difficult journey in hilly road. We reached another small village (I forget the Name) at 4 PM but it wasn’t that day’s destination, so we need to walk some more hours. After sometime, our way entered to the Lang Tang National Park. It was raining very heavily and trail was becoming so sleepy. We were hungry but there were not any places to have food. So we had some Chocolates and Cashew which we brought from Katmandu.

It was already 6:30 PM and darkness was falling down to the earth but we were unknown of our today’s destination. We were too tired & inside the big Forest. Nothing was visible with that thick forest and we were afraid of the wild animals. We do not even have the water to drink. After a while we reached an open space and look to the up, we saw a Buddhist flag waving at the top of the hill and make the guess that, it may be a hotel. With a positive hope, we started to walk little faster.

It was totally dark but we continued with the small torch. At 7:30 PM we reached the place with the previously seen flag. Thanks God!!! That was a small hotel and we safely reached there. Our tiredness was clearly visible in the faces.

We wash off out tiredness and had a tea in a big glass. At around 8:30 PM the Kitchen was ready with a good dinner including Daal, Rice and potatoes (like the previous).

Immediately after dinner everyone were in bed.

  • Day 1 : Gosainkunda Trek – 5 Days – Sat June 9, 2007 to Wed June 13, 2007

    Members:
Bikash Banskota, Rabin Lamichhane, Saroj Pandey, Rajesh Manandhar & Shashi Shekhar Gautam

    Sat June 9, 2007 2:00 PM – Kathmandu

We finished all shopping, packing and be ready for the trek. Actual trek was from Sundarijal (1300 m), so we needed to get there first. It took nearly an hour to reach there by taxi. At around 3:00 PM our adventure began through the heart touching natural beauty of Shiva Puri National Park.

Our plan was to stay in Chisapani (2194 m) for that day. It was 3 hrs far from Sundarijal to the fast walkers. So we need to be little faster. The trek through the Nepal’s countryside in the curvy road is really a great adventure and the beautiful nature and fresh air don’t let us to be tired.

The trail went up and down, but was not too difficult. We passed through quite a few small villages, villagers were working in there fields. We walked & walked …   few rest & great walk in the beautiful road – sometimes slip through the big forest.

It was 7:00 PM; we finally reached Chisapani – very wonderful place surrounded by beautiful nature. It has wonderful nature – height was not much but environment was too cold … cold air passes through all the time. We weren’t too tired but we were too hungry, we were glad of a short, relatively easy day to start out.

We booked the hotel there – and be fresh. We hung all the clothes in room but they didn’t really have the environment to dry because it was too cold. We spend time till dinner chatting with the peoples in the hotel. Then, at around 8:30 PM we had wonderful Nepali food.

After dinner, friends enjoyed the night cold with the sip of wine.

After that, the only thing left for that day – Sleep. It was 10:00 PM and everyone were dreaming.
